Articles and Wiki pages are similar... but different. ;-)

Both:

  • Accept full wiki syntax, plugins, and modules.
  • Can use the wiki or WYSIWYG editor
  • Can include other Tiki features (such as tags, categories, comments, permissions, etc.)



But there are some important differences:

Wiki pages

  • Allow you to maintain a full history (diff)
  • Can have page-specific permissions



Articles

  • In addition to categories, articles include two additional methods of categorization: Type and Topic
  • Have a single author field
  • In addition to letting readers rate the content, the author can assign a rating for the article
  • Can have an "expiration" date
