Features / Usability

SyncroEdit and Wikiwyg

Hi, everyone.

I've been following the news on the open-source SynchroEdit feature with great interest. Will this feature be incorporated into the next version of tw?

Likewise, Wikiwyg - though this is not as important as SynchroEdit to me.

Hiya,

I would guess not. It seems to require a JAVA Server Applet, which not everyone will be able to utilise. Also what license is it? It would need to be LGPL compatible for inclusion in mainstream TW.

Hey, Looks nice this synchroedit soft. 😊
It's licensed under MPL & LGPL, as it's written on their webpage (but as Mods, it could have any license).
It would be very nice to see it integrated in Tiki, for sure, Josephine.

I was wondering, as another approach, why anybody has developed a "merge" feature for synchronous edits on a wiki page... (calling to merge function in the server, or similar... and merging changes in the simultaneous edits...

(I've heard that DfWiki, module from Moodle.org, has this merge feature in its roadmap).

Damian, the Java Server applet sounds like a possible obstacle. 🙁

Xavi, the merging feature sounds interesting.

Wonder how long (and what) it'll take for these synchronization/merging features to become main-stream or at least become part of tw?

The DfWiki module in Moodle does sound promising. 😊
