Categories and content?
Hi,
I thought the wiki will still be the best choice for a home page. I would like to put some content on the page and have control of the layout. I'm thinking this would be for the middle frame area, this are here in the middle as it is on my page.
Perhaps as you read this you can refer me to certain pages or sections in the domentation that I printed out or on the site here to review.
Anyway, usually when one designs a site one has different subject areas, categories that serve as menu items. I noticed that in fact the system has a category feature.
The concept is great, that with categories I can include blogs, forums, articles, etc. and the user can browse the category tree structure. However, since categories is within the menu as a menu item, it defeats the purpose. Specifically, how would my visitors know that the best way to get around my site is to use the Category feature. I thought that it might be nice to take this concept and have a vertical menu for each category listing. A drop down menu, for main categories, sub-category one and sub-sub-category etc.
Can something like this be done? It could be something like a menu system in the Operating system or the favorites book marks, you either open to a page to go to, or you open to a list of a few more menu items, and that continues till you get to an actual page to go to.
In other words if a menu subcategory has a subcategory under it, then it would allow you to open that versus a subcategory that links directly to a page that one can go to.
The reason, I'm thinking of drop down vertical menus is that the main menu system is on the left and right and that works fine. But to organize a site based on content and subjects then one would do things differently.
Perhaps I should look at some other sites to see how they did things.
Thanks so much in advance,
Bruce
