Yes, there is development in each version.

Some things are better in a forum (brainstorming, debating, etc)

Some things are really better managed in a wiki (permanent information, documentation, status report, meeting minutes, FAQs collaborative editing, etc)

The big advantage of Tiki is that you have these two features (and a ton of others) in one application in single sign on.

Classic forums use Sticky posts as a way to keep permanent information easily accessible.

From your short description, I'd say Tiki is exactly what you need 😊
