How do I differ between external and internal links?

When writing wiki-pages in tiki-wiki, internal links are made with ( and ), like this: TikiWiki
External links are made a bit different, and have a small icon telling it is an external link. However, in my tiki-installation, they look the same... How do I make them different, like in this forum?

I have the same problem. On top of it, external links don't open in new windows. am using 1.8.5. I did enable the option to have external links open in new windows somewhere in settings.

The external-links icon is new in 1.9, isn't it? I don't see any way to choose using it in my 1.8.5 installation, although the checkbox is there for it on the Admin/Wiki page in 1.9rc3.

The "Open external links in new window" checkbox is on the Admin/General page in both versions. Have you activated it?

It seems like you are right. I am running 1.8.5 and can't see any options for icons for external links. I have checked the "Open external links in new window" option.
